Effortlessly traversing between genres, Smiling With No Teeth put Genesis Owusu’s fearless artistic approach front and centre.The album swept Australia’s ARIA Awards with four wins, including taking home the prestigious Album of the Year, the first Black hip hop artist to do so. Critics and tastemakers around the world lauded the record, including The Needle Drop, NME, Line of Best Fit, The Guardian and Rolling Stone. Album track “Gold Chains” was featured in President Obama’s Favourite Music of 2021, and Owusu made his U.S. late-night television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in early 2022.

He kicked off 2023 reinterpreting his first album in a landmark, sold out performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House with a forty piece orchestra, before returning later in the year with his compelling second album STRUGGLER.The record debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Chart and led to cover spreads across Esquire Australia and NME Australia, plus found fans in Paste Magazine, NPR, Billboard and Alternative Press. STRUGGLER won Album of the Year, Best Independent Release, and Best Hip Hop / Rap Release for a second year in a row at the 2023 ARIA Awards. He sold out shows at legendary venues internationally, having previously shared the stage with Tame Impala, Paramore and Bloc Party, including dates at Madison Square Garden alongside major Australian festival appearances at Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise and Splendour in the Grass.
